AN INTIMATE ART DECO BED & BREAKFAST HOTEL
When you visit Bluff or Stewart Island, we look forward to hosting you and even if you don’t stay with us please pop in for a cup of tea, a wee dram and a chat.
Bluff is the gateway to Stewart Island, and home to the Bluff oysters – reputed to be the finest in the world. The oyster season runs from March to August, and in May each year Bluff hosts the iconic Oyster and Food Festival to honour Ostrea chilensis (that’s Latin for Bluff oyster).
Pam and Mike along with Oliver the cat are the hosts of this cute 8-room bed and breakfast art deco hotel built in 1937.
After spending a night at the Foveaux Hotel in February 2018, we fell in love with the town’s charm, the beautiful art deco building and the interior of the hotel. A year later in February 2019 we were fortunate to become the proud new owners of the Foveaux Hotel. Our aim is to make your stay with us enjoyable and relaxing with the home away from home feel.
Bluff is one of the oldest European settlements and the southernmost settlement on mainland New Zealand. As the oldest European settlement, Bluff has a rich and varied history, explore the Maritime Museum to enjoy the many exhibits focusing on whaling, oystering, shipwrecks and artwork showing scenes of Bluff’s early days when it was officially known as Campbelltown.
